Start spooky season with Photobook Meet-Up #19 at Virgil Art House on Sunday, October 11 from 2–7 PM. This free gathering hosted monthly by film photographer Serafina Maxima brings together photographers, artists, collectors, and anyone interested in photography, printed matter, and creative community.

Bring your own photobooks, zines, or prints to share, or simply show up and browse books from the personal collections of photographers from across Los Angeles. No collection required—come to discover new work, meet other photo lovers, and spend an afternoon finding inspiration between the pages.

For the meetup, guests are invited to spread out across the studio, upstairs lounge, and back garden, offering several relaxed spaces to browse, talk, and connect. Enter through the gallery from Hoover Street, then head through the rear door to reach the studio and garden. Feel free to explore the artwork in the gallery along the way, but the meetup itself will take place in the designated back spaces.

A few house notes: please keep doors closed when moving between spaces, clean up after yourself, respect the artwork and property, and bring a stool or extra seating if you have one.

The event is completely free. A limited amount of non-alcoholic drinks and pizza may also be available, depending on community donations.

Whether you’re a working photographer, a photobook collector, a zine maker, or simply curious, come by, bring something to share—or arrive empty-handed—and spend the afternoon surrounded by photography and good company.
