Hoover Street Block Party Brings the Neighborhood Together

block party

The Hoover Street Block Party was everything we hoped it would be: lively, welcoming, creative, and full of the kind of neighborhood energy that makes Los Angeles feel a little smaller and a lot more connected.

On Saturday, August 29, businesses along Hoover Street between Melrose Avenue and Bellevue Avenue opened their doors and took the celebration outside for an afternoon of food, drinks, music, art, shopping, and community. Neighbors wandered from stop to stop, discovering new businesses, reconnecting with familiar faces, and spending the afternoon enjoying everything happening along the block.

Something for everyone

There was something different around nearly every corner. Doto brought music, a flea market, happy hour, and its Dine LA Week programming. Bar Keeper hosted whiskey and Champagne tastings, while Delicias Internacionales kept everyone well fed with street tacos. Lemonfixx served fresh lemonade, and Vinovore offered its California take on the classic Kalimotxo.

At Virgil Art House, we welcomed visitors into the gallery for free face painting. It was exciting to see people who had never stepped inside before learn more about what we’re building here.

Elsewhere on the block, MaeDay hosted a pet adoption and Kim Serene Gardens added flowers and color to the afternoon. Silverlake Barber Shop, Wag n’ Swag, and other neighborhood businesses helped make the entire stretch of Hoover feel active and connected.

What made the day memorable wasn’t any single activity. It was seeing so many independent businesses and neighbors sharing the same street and supporting one another.

Events like this are a reminder that a neighborhood is more than a collection of storefronts. It’s the relationships between the people inside them and the community that continues to show up.

Thank you to everyone who participated, organized, opened their doors, and simply came out to spend the afternoon with us.

We’re already looking forward to the next one.
